See the Black Rhino in Malilangwe Reserve
Zimbabwe has unfortunately been on the receiving end of its fair share of bad press over the years, and contrary to popular belief, it really is a safe country to visit and is definitely not a place to miss because of the hype. The people of this beautiful country are friendly, and there is a host of amazing sites to see and interesting cultures to learn about.
Zimbabwe has a long list of highlights, but the most popular sites include:
Malilangwe Reserve
Located next to Gonarezhou National Park in southeastern Zimbabwe, this reserve is rich in human and archaeological history, including 100 rock art sites that are more than 2000 years old. The 130000 acre wildlife reserve plays an important role in the conservation of the rare black rhino. Gorgeous Sable and Roan antelope also make up some of its interesting residents. Other species you can potentially see here include the white rhino, hartebeest, and more than 400 species of birds.
The only lodge in Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve is Singita’s Pamushana. A breathtaking lodge, placed on a hill with a stunning view of Malilangwe Dam. The main areas of the lodge are perfectly situated to enjoy a sundowner after a good day’s game viewing.
Victoria Falls
The mighty Victoria Falls are located in the north of Zimbabwe, and are a shared marvel with Zambia. The location of the falls is on the Zambezi River, one of the largest rivers in Africa, the river creates a natural border between the two nations. Victoria Falls is the largest waterfall in the world. It stretches over a mile, and the water plunges 360 feet into the chasm below. The spray rises 1300 feet into the air, and the roar can be heard from 20 miles away! The locals call Victoria Falls “Mosi-oa-Tunya,” which means “The smoke that thunders.”
If there were one more thing I could do, it would be to go on safari once again.
